Carburetor troubleshooting

One of the biggest carburetor problems is dirt. Once your carb gets dirty, your engine will not perform up to expectations. Once you start to feel that lack of performance there are three steps to take to remedy the situation.

#1. Check your air filter - You want clean air coming into your carb as a clogged air filter will let dirty air get through and mess up your carb.

#2. Check your throttle and choke plates - These little parts will stick or bind when they get dirty. You will need to clean them for them to work normally again.

#3. Use a good carburetor cleaner - This will help clean out any deposits or dirt inside your small engine and carb. Do this on a regular basis to avoid a dirty carb.

How to rebuild a carburetor on a lawn mower?

There are several steps involved in this process. The first step is to remove the spark plug and air filter housing. After that is done you should drain the fuel from the tank and fuel lines.

That may take a couple of minutes, and when it is finished draining, remove the blower housing and finally the carb. To do the actual rebuilding, you will need to remove all the parts inside the carb and replace them with new ones.

This will take some time as there are a lot of parts inside a carburetor.
